Here’s what I wish I knew when I first became an OBM:
Becoming a well-paid OBM who multi-six and seven-figure clients line up to work with is about raising your role, responsibility, AND rate.
When I first graduated from VA to OBM work, l initially attracted business owners who were relatively new, still figuring things out, and not yet generating consistent recurring revenue.
Those clients were incredible humans, loved the idea of having my support, and felt totally aligned on a personal level.
But what I learned through our partnerships is that they often lacked the systems, team, and/or strategic clarity to fully leverage and benefit from my high-level OBM support.
This left me doing patchwork problem-solving instead of stepping into my role as a strategic thought partner, and I found myself mostly supporting them in a VA capacity, despite the fact that they were paying my OBM rates.
